Sorry grandmas it's been a few weeks:(

I love being a missionary-- time feels so weird.

These weeks were just crazy. Splits and flying down for three days to Stockholm for mission tour and meetings. so spiritually fed it was wonderful.

We are getting the coolest referrals. Our msision does tons of media work and it feels like the Lord is hastening the work through so many new tools which is incredible.

Have been down memory lane this week-- it was a year ago that I attempted to talk to a swede in the airport in Paris and pondered on the plane here what we were getting ourselves into. Arrived in sweden with big dreams and knowing so little. what an awesome year it's been.

Update on our people-- Anna came to church and loved it. Talks about getting married in the temple. Lasse and Valter our old old man friends are wonderful. Lasse bakes for us every lesson. We knocked on the door of the most darling family from India that came to church yesterday! Same knocking stund found a young Swedish guy Anton who is so cool with the best questions. Zuba who was on date decided not to meet us anymore-- we are praying for her.

We also
- lit our microwave on fire
- made our elder-dominated zone do face masks
- were on exchanges and 3/4 sisters in the lägenhet all got the myplan email samtidigt during wednesday webby. had a good laugh about that
- are teaching an Anna and an Elsa
- watched the sunrise from ice skates on a frozen lake
- vince guaraldi sponsored språk studies
- vivaldi and holst while we run in the mornings and being reminded so much of my mom's symphony concerts.
- got a referral from BRIGGY HIMSELF! Kille who lived with our buddy as an exchange student then just happens to live in Umeå!
- we watched tangled in swedish 😭
- Caleb Paul has 6 teeth
- Elder niño got transferred-- no way like the Conway✊️

I love Umeå. I love Syster Williams. I'm learning so much still. I love this gospel deeper than I ever have before. If you're struggling to feel that-- please go back to the basics! Scriptures and prayers do incredible things. I know everyone says it-- please try it yourself if you haven't felt it for awhile. I know it works!

Farhad, Kungsbacka, Elder Child??

After hearing about a conversation between my dear Grandma Jan and now elder Child that consisted of her saying "Derek, you need to be better than your sister at writing emails," I've vowed to be ännu bättre. My grandparents love deeper than anyone, I'm convinced. It was quite possibly the most eventful week of my entire mission. Zone conference, Farhad's baptism and the wondrous few days and lessons leading up to it, the long awaited temple trip and tender mercy of my little brother receiving his endowment on the same day, and transfer news. Oh my things are good good. ANNIE IS HOME. My best friend in the world. She did it! I just smiled and cried watchin the videos of her huggin Jana. Dreamed of our missions since we were little and now her adventure is done. Where to start. It's been two weeks. - Pontus came to zone conference and loved it! Took notes the whole time. There was a lot of talk about purpose-- he said afterward that he feels like his purpose is "kind of like you guys- a missionary, basically." It was special. He is getting baptized THIS SUNDAY! After so long working for it. Please please please please pray for him this week- he is more converted than anyone I know, but satan is working hard because of it. - Mikael in Lund got baptized!!!! Our kind-eyed deaf friend. I heard that the second counselor who baptized him learned the whole baptismal prayer in swedish sign language. Mikael's story is evidence to me that the Spirit works! Hallå! It has been a wonderful wonderful week. Many beautiful moments. A quick update and thought! I am still waiting on a visa, so will be serving in the Tennessee Nashville mission starting next week! Truly could not be more excited, and I mean that. The tender mercies of the Lord have been abundant in getting me here, and with an abundance of peace. God is very good. My sweet companions made me stand up and read my call and made a video- the whole shebang. Oh I love them. TENDER MERCIES. They are everywhere. My challenge to you, which I was prompted to do and has blessed my days- is to write down the ones you see every day. Simply write down the beautiful moments! Read this week about how they are not coincidences, and I believe it. "I testify that the tender mercies of the Lord are real and that they do not occur randomly or merely by coincidence."
