Farhad, Kungsbacka, Elder Child??
After hearing about a conversation between my dear Grandma Jan and now elder Child that consisted of her saying "Derek, you need to be better than your sister at writing emails," I've vowed to be ännu bättre. My grandparents love deeper than anyone, I'm convinced.
It was quite possibly the most eventful week of my entire mission. Zone conference, Farhad's baptism and the wondrous few days and lessons leading up to it, the long awaited temple trip and tender mercy of my little brother receiving his endowment on the same day, and transfer news. Busy busy happy days in between all of it. I love Lund a lot.
Farhad's baptism was wonderful. In our lesson the day before, he asked us if he would share a testimony at the baptism. We told him that he of course could, but didn't need to-- he then proceeded to read out a carefully written testimony, all about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and how he was grateful for every person who had helped him progress towards his baptism. It was a special moment. Asked if he could fast before his baptism. The day itself went so beautifully smoothly- seeing him in the font with an elder more than a foot taller than him was a happy happy sight.
He proceeded to memorize every word of his carefully written testimony so he could read it over the pulpit on sunday. It has been such a cool blessing with Farhad- we have been blessed to be here for almost all of his journey towards this day. It's amazing to me to see how someone really can be so ready.
My little brother and best friend in the world has a tag on his chest. Not much to say except that this brings me a kind of joy that really can't be described. Knowing how much I've learned from my own mission thus far, and knowing he'll come to experience it too.
I am being transferred! After just six weeks in Lund, I will be honest that it's a little hard to leave. This ward and our friends and my awesome companions. But I have a strong testimony that areas are so inspired.
I'm going to Kungsbacka!!! Just outside of Göteborg, and will be follow up trainjng awesome Sister Nelson!
I love you all. I love having people to love, both here and back home. Know that I pray for you and that you help this mission so much for me.
Vi hörs next week from Kungsbacka!
